Lectures at Home, Homework in the Classroom
Life Sciences Core Curriculum began “flipping” its courses in 2013, making it the first department at UCLA to fully embrace next-generation approaches to teaching and learning. Flipped teaching, frequently described as lectures as home, homework in the classroom, uses a variety of media — including video — to deliver instructional content so active learning can take place in the live classroom. Media at Life Sciences Core no longer plays a supplemental role. It’s a key element in the delivery of instruction.
The faculty of Life Science Core Curriculum, working with the new Life Sciences Core Media unit, produced almost 100 individual video segments to support flipped instruction for the 2016-2017 offering of LS7ABC.
